Media Campaign: Wash With Care
Client: Elizabeth Bayne & Esmi Rennick
Title: “Wash With Care"
Goal: Celebrate the journeys of people of color to embrace their natural curls
In the summer of 2017, a group of Los Angeles-based artists assembled for a photography project to celebrate the diverse journeys they each had taken to embrace their natural curls and move beyond Euro-centric standards of beauty in America. The photo shoot included designers, photographers, illustrators and filmmakers of color.
Solution: The project was exhibited during the Highland Park Art Walk on September 9, 2017 at the MorYork Gallery as one of four featured artists in “Get’n Grown: An Exploration of Self Evolution.” The collection of portraits of women and men with varying hair textures was accompanied by a personal statement or story about self-acceptance and embracing a multiethnic definition of beauty.
